54.04 Japan Post e-Notification

Japan Post’s online tools keep parcels moving even when you miss the doorbell. This reference note captures the official links and checkpoints so 41.07 Mobile, Internet and Communications can focus on usage tips.

Service snapshot

  • Notification hub: The English landing page for automated notifications explains available alerts, registration steps, and supported delivery types.
  • Yubin Portal (Japan Post ID): Create or sign in with a Japan Post ID to access tracking, redelivery requests, and address management. One login covers the notification hub, parcel tracking, and change-of-address forms.
  • Redelivery options: Online redelivery only sends items back to the original address. Use the redelivery request form for English guidance, or call 0570-046-111 (08:00–21:00) when you need a different pickup location.

Enrolment steps

  1. Set up the ID. Register for a Japan Post ID using an email address and mobile number. Store recovery codes with your password manager and note the login in 02.01 Random Log if you track credentials manually.
  2. Align addresses. Mirror the address you maintain in 41.05 Housing and Utilities and the change-of-address submission in moving-notifications-and-mail-forwarding. The portal validates entries against your official address.
  3. Choose alert channels. Within the notification settings, enable email or app alerts. Add the sender domains to your safe-sender list so reminders do not land in spam.

Using the tools

  • Tracking: The Track & Trace service handles EMS, registered mail, and parcel deliveries. Save the URL alongside purchase records for easy follow-up.
  • Missed-delivery slips: Keep the tracking or notification number printed on the notice before starting the web form. Snap a photo in case the paper copy gets misplaced.
  • Scheduling: You can pick redelivery windows (morning, afternoon, evening) up to a week in advance. Alternate addresses or convenience-store pickup require a phone call.

Maintenance checklist

  • Review contact details quarterly so expired phone numbers or email addresses do not block alerts.
  • When moving, update the portal and submit a change-of-address request at the same time; Japan Post honours redirection for one year.
  • Log outages or repeated delays in digital-communication-tools so future readers know when the portal misbehaved.
